Softball Recap: Spencerville Comes Up Short

Spencerville lost to Elida on Saturday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Bearcats fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 9-7. Even though they lost, the Bearcats' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.1 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Haley Hittle was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Gabriella King was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Spencerville and nudges their season record down to 2-5. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Elida, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Coming up, Spencerville will take on Jefferson at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The game will give the Bearcats their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Elida, they will square off against Van Wert at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
