Soccer Game Preview: Palm Desert vs. La Quinta

The Palm Desert Aztecs will head out to take on the La Quinta Blackhawks at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Palm Desert is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to four goals on Saturday, they were much more limited against Coachella Valley on Monday. They fell just short of the Mighty Arabs by a score of 1-0.

Meanwhile, La Quinta came up short against Murrieta Valley on Tuesday and fell 4-2. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Blackhawks came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 156th, while the Nighthawks are ranked 703rd).

Palm Desert's loss dropped their record down to 4-4-2. As for La Quinta, they suffered their first road defeat, dropping their record down to 3-2-1.

Palm Desert took their victory against La Quinta in their previous matchup back in January by a conclusive 3-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Palm Desert since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
