Football Recap: Vashon Island Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Vashon Island extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 13 on Friday, dropping them down to 0-9. They were outmatched by the South Whidbey Falcons and fell 58-14. On the bright side, the 14- point performance marked the Pirates' highest-scoring game to date.

Michael Browne and Tallis Sullivan certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Browne rushed for 58 yards and one TD on only six carries, while Sullivan rushed for 41 yards and one score. Sullivan was even better on defense, picking up a sack and making five total tackles (2.0 for loss).

South Whidbey's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-6. Considering their offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Bryson Taylor was a one-man wrecking crew as he rushed for 216 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 carries, and also picked up 66 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Those 216 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Ryan Ferguson was another key player, throwing for 187 yards and four TDs on only ten passes.

As of now, neither Vashon Island nor South Whidbey have any future games scheduled.
