Softball Recap: Ten Straight Home Wins for East River

East River had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Archbishop Chapelle Chipmunks as they made off with a 12-1 victory. Considering the Falcons have won three games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Katherine Sanchez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out 13 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.8 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Tru Mastro was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. Talisa Soto was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

East River kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

East River's win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Archbishop Chapelle, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Looking ahead, East River will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Winter Springs at 7:00 p.m. East River will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last. As for Archbishop Chapelle, they will head out on the road to challenge Walker at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
