Recap: Tippecanoe Valley Vikings vs. Bremen Lions

Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 18 to 7 on the offensive boards, a fact the Tippecanoe Valley Vikings proved on Saturday. They blew past Bremen 55-30. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Tippecanoe Valley also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2015.

Tippecanoe Valley was led to victory by Stephen Akase and Ian Cooksey. Akase dropped a double-double on 15 points and 18 rebounds, while Cooksey scored 24 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Akase has scored at least 25% of Tippecanoe Valley's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Deondre Hamilton, who scored 6 points along with 7 rebounds.

Bremen's loss came despite strong showings from Silas Laidig and Tyrus Graverson. Laidig scored 12 points along with 9 rebounds, while Graverson scored 4 points along with 3 steals. Graverson is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season.

Tippecanoe Valley's win bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Bremen, their loss dropped their record down to 2-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tippecanoe Valley's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Morgan Township at 6:30 p.m. on December 8th. Averaging 68.7 so far this season, Morgan Township's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so Tippecanoe Valley better be ready for a challenge. As for Bremen, they will be playing in front of their home fans against New Prairie at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. New Prairie will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 338th, while Bremen is ranked 128th).
