Softball Recap: Smithfield Comes Up Short

Smithfield fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against New Kent on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 6-5. The Packers haven't had much luck with the Trojans recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Kayla Young was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-5 with three RBI and one double.

Smithfield's loss dropped their record down to 9-6. As for New Kent, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-3.

Smithfield has already played their next matchup (against Tabb), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for New Kent, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 8-3 defeat against York on the 6th.
