Football Game Preview: Moody Blue Devils vs. Lincoln Golden Bears + How To Watch

Moody and Lincoln are an even 3-3 against one another since October of 2015, but not for long. The Blue Devils will head out on the road to take on the Golden Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Moody has three straight wins, Lincoln has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Moody had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 48-point drubbing they dealt Springville on Friday. The Blue Devils blew past the Tigers 55-7. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 42-0.

Jake Lowery went supernova, throwing for 267 yards and two TDs while completing 78.6% of his passes, and also punching in one rushing score. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (159.2). Jalijah Rutledge did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 114 receiving yards.

Moody was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 279 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Another reason for the win was Moody's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for nine sacks. Springville's QB won't forget Baroc Willis anytime soon given he sacked him twice. Willis is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least six every time he's taken the field this season. Another thorn in Springville's side was Joshua Willet, who picked up a sack and made six total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Meanwhile, Lincoln came up short against St. Clair County on Friday and fell 42-35.

Moody will have to contain Nic Catlett as he made an impact in Lincoln's last game. He picked up 111 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Lincoln's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Moody, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.

Everything came up roses for Moody against Lincoln in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 66-3 win. In that game, the Blue Devils amassed a halftime lead of 52-3, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
