Basketball Recap: Washburn Comes Up Short

If Washburn was feeling good fresh off their 64-44 takedown of Wakefield last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Washburn Castle Guards fell just short of the Bayfield Trollers by a score of 68-65 on Thursday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (64), the Castle Guards still had to take the loss.

Bayfield got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Quintin Bresette out in front who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 16 assists. The match was Bresette's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Maxwell Gordon was another key player, dropping a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds.

Washburn's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Bayfield, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.

Washburn will look to defend their home court on Monday against Butternut at 7:15 p.m. As for Bayfield, they will head out to challenge Mellen at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
