Eastwood came tearing into Friday's game with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.2 points), and they left with even more momentum. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Pebble Hills Spartans 17-14. For the Troopers, this counts as revenge for the 43-14 victory the Spartans walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.

A big part of Eastwood's win came down to the chemistry between Kingston Jeffries and his top target Jordan Nava. Jeffries threw for 142 yards and one touchdown while Nava picked up 107 receiving yards and one TD.

One reason for the win was Eastwood's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for nine sacks. It was truly a group effort as Joaquin Tagle, Jaziel Diaz, Andrew Jackson, and Adian Bastidas picked up two apiece. Jackson also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with eight. Eastwood got some further help from Joshua Mora: he picked up a sack and made eight total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Despite the loss, Pebble Hills still got an impressive performance from Zephaniah Moon, who rushed for 102 yards.

Eastwood's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Pebble Hills, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-2.

Eastwood has already played their next matchup, a 36-26 win against Coronado on the 24th. As for Pebble Hills, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 56-0 victory against Socorro on the 24th.
