Garfield had won five straight on the road, but on Thursday they bumped their record up to 13-3 to make it six. They blew past the Lincoln Lynx 12-4. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won ten games by eight runs or more so far this season.
Joie Cunningham was incredible, going 4-for-5 with two triples, three runs, and one stolen base. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kaitlyn Washington, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs.
Garfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .457. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lincoln only posted a batting average of .269.
As for Lincoln, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games.
On Lincoln's side, Dakota Blokker made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Anaya Goldberg also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
