Baseball Recap: Bend's Win Ends Three-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Bend won the last time they faced Summit and things went their way on Friday too. The Lava Bears came out on top against the Storm by a score of 4-1. The game was the first time the Lava Bears have beaten the Storm on their field since May 3, 2022.

Cole Cooper spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Will Goodman was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Pendergast, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Bend's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 15-8. As for Summit, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-6.

Bend and Summit should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Oregon Rankings. The Lava Bears (ranked 31st) will meet Mountain View (ranked 94th) at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Summit will square off against Caldera at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (16 vs. 106).
