North Sequoia recap Oct. 3, 2012
Liberty extended the longest winning streak in North Sequoia this week by beating Caruthers, 37-0. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Kerman made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 9,479 from 9,575. The improvement came about via a 28-21 victory over Dos Palos last week.
Liberty's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Zach Richey threw for 130 and two touchdowns and J.J. Santa Cruz had 72 yards receiving. On the ground AJ Leon chipped in 121 yards. Wade Wallace helped Liberty's passing attack out by catching one ball for 43 yards.
Yosemite's Joey Woolsey and Dillon Moran have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Woolsey has thrown for 867 yards this season, while Moran has 16 catches for 287 yards. Sierra's Gage McAdams leads the league in rushing yards with 543.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when Mike Nolte's team takes on the Badgers. The Hawks' offense has racked up 170 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while Yosemite has allowed only 245 on the year.
A big matchup in North Sequoia this week will be when Liberty takes on Kent Lincoln's team. At the moment, the Hawks are in first, while the Badgers are in fifth.
Chowchilla led the league in scoring this week after putting up 56 points on Corcoran. Devaughn Gaines threw for 61 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 70 yards in the win.
