Baseball Recap: Umatilla Comes Up Short

Umatilla suffered their biggest loss since March 3rd on Saturday. They came up short against the Mount Dora Hurricanes, falling 11-2. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Bulldogs, who until this game were averaging 3.5 runs allowed.

Aidan Ross and Dominick Mathe stepped up to the plate in a big way. Ross went 1-for-4 with one home run, while Mathe went 3-for-4 with one triple and one RBI. Tristan Craft also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Umatilla and nudges their season record down to 12-8. As for Mount Dora, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-7.

While Umatilla had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
