Soccer Game Preview: New Waverly vs. Royal

The New Waverly Bulldogs will challenge the Royal Falcons at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. New Waverly will be strutting in after a victory while Royal will be coming in after a defeat.

If Royal heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when New Waverly took over last week. New Waverly skirted past Hempstead 3-2. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Bobcats recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Royal's offense. They came up short against Sealy on Tuesday, falling 6-0. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 581st, while the Tigers are ranked 185th).

New Waverly pushed their record up to 9-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 13 goals over those four contests. As for Royal, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.

New Waverly beat Royal by a goal in their previous meeting back in January, winning 2-1. Will New Waverly repeat their success, or does Royal have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
