Softball Game Preview: Sunset Apollos vs. Tigard Tigers

The Sunset Apollos will take on the Tigard Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Sunset will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Sunset is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Oregon's top teams: Sherwood, who was ranked first at the time (Sunset was ranked eighth). The Apollos walked away with a 9-6 victory over the Bowmen on Wednesday.

Jordan Pe?a was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-5. Kaia McKenna was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Tigard didn't have quite enough to beat Nelson on Wednesday and fell 9-8.

Sunset's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Tigard, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.

Everything went Sunset's way against Tigard in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Sunset made off with a 12-5 win. Do the Apollos have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
