Baseball Recap: Mesa Comes Up Short

Mesa fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Dobson on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 8-3 to the Mustangs. The Jackrabbits were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Mustangs earlier this season, when they won 9-7.

Mesa saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anthony Ruelas, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI. Another was Sam Babalola, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Mesa's loss was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Dobson, their win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 5-14.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mesa will challenge Boulder Creek at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Dobson, they will square off against Westwood at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The Mustangs are facing the Warriors at the right time seeing as the Warriors are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
