Softball Game Preview: Cross County Thunderbirds vs. Trumann Wildcats

The Cross County Thunderbirds will head out to take on the Trumann Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Cross County will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.

Having struggled with five defeats in a row dating back to last season, Cross County turned things around against Jonesboro on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Hurricane with a sharp 14-1 win. The Thunderbirds' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Trumann was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 9-1 to Tuckerman.

Chloie Williams was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendyll Ferguson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double.

Trumann's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Cross County, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.

Cross County couldn't quite finish off Trumann in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 and fell 8-6. Can Cross County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
