Basketball Recap: Tanner Falls Despite Big Games from Alexi Douglas and Aubrey Oliver

Tanner was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 39-31 to the Whitesburg Christian Academy Warriors. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rattlers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 59-22 back in November of 2024.

Despite the loss, Tanner had strong showings from Aubrey Oliver, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds, and Alexi Douglas, who posted six points in addition to eight boards and three steals. That's the most points Oliver has posted since back in November of 2024.

Tanner's defeat dropped their record down to 2-19. As for Whitesburg Christian Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.

Tanner will welcome Lindsay Lane Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Whitesburg Christian Academy, they will venture away from home to face off against St. John Paul II at 6:30 p.m. on January 17th.
