Basketball Recap: Bishop Moore Picks Up Fourth Straight Win at Home

On Tuesday, everything went the Bishop Moore Hornets's way against the Melbourne Bulldogs as the Bishop Moore Hornets made off with a 68-45 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hornets.

Alex Wolsonovich was nothing short of spectacular: she went 7 of 15 on her way to 20 points in addition to six assists and four steals. Another player making a difference was Janiah Batten, who posted six points along with ten rebounds and three steals.

Wolsonovich wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Bishop Moore was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Melbourne only racked up eight assists.

Despite the loss, Melbourne saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Brianna Matthews dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 boards. Matthews is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last ten games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Elena Neel, who scored nine points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Bishop Moore pushed their record up to 8-12 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.8 points per game. As for Melbourne, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-12.

Bishop Moore didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 52-50 defeat against Wekiva on the 29th. As for Melbourne, they will face off against Odyssey Charter School at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
