Southwest Christian was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in TAPPS Division II District 1. The Eagles defeated Pantego Christian 42-26 earlier in the week.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Midland Christian beat Grace Prep 48-0. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
Mason McClendon threw for 439 yards and 6 touchdowns.
McClendon put up the best numbers in passing as Midland Christian defeated the Lions. McClendon's favorite target this week was Jarrod Koym, who caught 6 passes for 176 yards.
Midland Christian's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Mustangs feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. McClendon has thrown for 1,927 yards and 29 touchdowns this season, while Koym has 25 catches for 571 yards.
Greg McClendon's team's McClendon is within 73 passing yards of surpassing 2,000 on the season coming into this week's game against Faith Christian.
Fans will be thrilled by an exciting game in the secondary when the Mustangs' Koym goes up against the Lions' Drake Reeves.
Next week's game between Midland Christian and Faith Christian will feature an aerial matchup as McClendon tests his arm against Reeves' defensive ability.
The Mustangs are currently in first, while Kris Hogan's team is in fifth.
