Basketball Recap: Brian Dempsey's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Seton Catholic Central over Corning-Painted Post East

On Wednesday, the Seton Catholic Central Saints were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 65-61 to the Corning-Painted Post East Trojans.

Seton Catholic Central's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brian Dempsey, who went 7-for-13 to rack up 19 points. The contest was Dempsey's third in a row with at least 15 points. Allan Eagles was another key player, going 5-for-9 en route to 11 points along with eight rebounds and five assists.

Seton Catholic Central's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 12-1 and their overall record down to 16-3.

Looking ahead, Seton Catholic Central will challenge Horseheads at 6:00 p.m. on February 27th. Corning-Painted Post East does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
