Baseball Game Preview: Northwest Lions vs. Webster Groves Statesmen

The Northwest Lions will take on the Webster Groves Statesmen at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Northwest turned things around against Windsor on Monday. They blew past the Owls 12-4.

Northwest got a great performance from Dakota Werner as he struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off nine hits. Those eight strikeouts gave Werner a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jackson Venatta, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Preston Lamprecht, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Webster Groves made easy work of Chaminade on Monday and carried off a 14-4 win.

Northwest's victory bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Webster Groves, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-11.

Northwest skirted past Webster Groves 4-3 when the teams last played back in March. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Statesmen have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
