Baseball Recap: Quakertown Find Success

It was a proper cat-fight when Quakertown challenged Upper Dublin on Tuesday. The Panthers walked away with a 5-1 win over the Cardinals. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Cardinals recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Quakertown got a great performance from Jarred Housten as he struck out seven batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Housten is becoming a predictor of the Panthers' success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 5-1-1 (and 5-6 when he doesn't).

At the plate, Quakertown let Cole Reich and Carter Tucholski run wild. Reich went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Tucholski went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Quakertown is 5-0-1 when Reich posts two or more runs, but 5-7 otherwise. Nick DePiero also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Quakertown was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Quakertown's win bumped their record up to 10-7-1. As for Upper Dublin, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-4-1 record.

Quakertown will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Cardinals: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
