California is 0-10 against De La Salle since November of 2015 but things could change on Thursday. The Grizzlies will take on the Spartans at 7:15 p.m.

California is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 33 points last Friday, they were much more limited against Monte Vista on Friday. They lost 34-13 to the Mustangs. The game marked the Grizzlies' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked sixth, while the Wolves are ranked 122nd) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

California better keep an eye on Brady Smith. He was instrumental in De La Salle's win, rushing for 120 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only nine carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Knight, who threw for 131 yards and three TDs.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: De La Salle was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 369 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2024.

De La Salle's victory bumped their record up to 8-0. As for California, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 7-1.

California was taken down by De La Salle 48-10 in their previous matchup back in November of 2024. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Grizzlies were down 35-3.
