Basketball Recap: The Academy Falls Despite Big Games from Lilly Millan and Megan Baker

It was a proper cat-fight when The Academy took on Middle Park on Thursday. The Academy Wildcats came up short against the Middle Park Panthers, falling 46-25. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2022.

The Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Megan Baker, who posted ten points, and Lilly Millan, who had six points and four steals. The dominant performance gave Baker a new career-high in points. Ally Thingelstad also deserves some recognition as she grabbed her first steal of the season.

Aubree Hanson was a one-woman wrecking crew for Middle Park as she dropped a double-double with 19 points and ten rebounds. Hanson has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Margo Redding was another key player, putting up seven points and five boards.

The Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-18 record this season. The win was the sixth in a row for Middle Park, bringing their record for this year to 12-9.

The Academy has already played their next game, a 44-33 victory against Platte Canyon on the 28th. As for Middle Park, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 44-19 defeat against Jefferson Academy on the 28th.
