Basketball Preview: Tom Bean Tomcats vs. Trenton Tigers
Tom Bean is 9-1 against the Tigers since November of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Tom Bean Tomcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Trenton Tigers at 8:15 p.m. Hopefully Tom Bean is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Tigers in Texas (the Tomcats are ranked 794th, while the Tigers are ranked 1628th).
Even though Tom Bean has not done well against the Blue Devils recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Tom Bean secured a 51-47 W over the Blue Devils. The win was just what Tom Bean needed coming off of a 59-36 defeat in their prior game.
Branson Ashlock continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. CJ Richter was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Trenton's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their seventh straight loss. They were outmatched by Sam Rayburn at home and fell 69-20. Trenton has struggled against the Rebels recently, as their game on Tuesday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Tom Bean has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 21-11 record this season. As for Trenton, they dropped their record down to 5-17 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.
Everything came up roses for Tom Bean against the Tigers in their previous matchup back in January as the team secured a 58-17 victory. With Tom Bean ahead 37-4 at the half, the match was all but over already.
