Baseball Game Preview: South Salem Saxons vs. West Salem Titans

For the second straight game, South Salem will face off against West Salem. The Saxons are taking a road trip to take on the Titans at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (South Salem has 21 straight victories, West Salem has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

While South Salem's win against West Salem wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Saxons sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over the Titans on Tuesday.

Harrison Buckingham spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Ben Greer was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

South Salem hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in four consecutive games.

South Salem's win was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-0. As for West Salem, their loss dropped their record down to 8-14.
