Basketball Game Preview: Sunset Knights vs. Mater Bay Academy Rays

Having just played yesterday, the Sunset Knights will get right back to it and host the Mater Bay Academy Rays at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Sunset will head into Thursday's contest hoping to keep the good times rolling: they proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 30) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged Edison out 50-47. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Knights have posted since November 21, 2024.

Meanwhile, Mater Bay Academy strolled past Cushman with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 49-34.

Mater Bay Academy pushed their record up to 13-3 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.0 points per game. As for Sunset, their victory bumped their record up to 8-6.

Sunset was able to grind out a solid win over Mater Bay Academy in their previous matchup on January 7th, winning 56-48. Does Sunset have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mater Bay Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
