Belpre is 1-7 against Southern since April of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Golden Eagles will challenge the Tornadoes at 5:00 p.m. Belpre is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.

It was a Battle of the Birds when Belpre faced off against Eastern on Tuesday. The Golden Eagles took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles.

Belpre saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was AJ Copen, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Copen is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

Southern never got on the board in their matchup on Thursday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Federal Hocking on Tuesday. They never let the Lancers get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory. The Tornadoes' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Southern pushed their record up to 3-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Belpre, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Belpre suffered a grim 10-1 defeat to Southern in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Golden Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
