Preview: Stewart County Rebels vs. East Hickman County Eagles

Stewart County is 9-1 against East Hickman County since December of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Stewart County Rebels will finish 2023 at home by hosting the East Hickman County Eagles at 10:30 a.m. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with 11 consecutive losses dating back to last season for Stewart County and three for East Hickman County.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 66-37, which was the final score in Stewart County's tilt against McEwen on Monday. Stewart County has struggled against McEwen recently, as their game on Monday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, East Hickman County might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting University School of Jackson an easy 67-47 victory. While losing is never fun, East Hickman County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 276th, while University School of Jackson is ranked 73rd).

Stewart County's loss was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-10. As for East Hickman County, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-9.

Stewart County was able to grind out a solid win over East Hickman County in their previous meeting back in February, winning 53-40. Will Stewart County repeat their success, or does East Hickman County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
