It was fun while it lasted, but Omaha Nation's undefeated season came to an end after five games on Thursday. They took a blow against the Mahpiya Luta Crusaders, falling 84-48. The loss was the Chiefs' first of the season.

Leading Mahpiya Luta to victory were Ashlan Carlow-Blount and Mya Mills. Carlow-Blount went 8 for 17 on her way to 27 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists, while Mills went 7 for 14 on her way to 20 points and five assists. Carlow-Blount's morning made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jodene Big Crow-Hunter, who went 5 of 11 on her way to 14 points.

Having lost for the first time this season, Omaha Nation fell to 5-1. As for Mahpiya Luta, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.

Omaha Nation will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Oakland-Craig at 6:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Mahpiya Luta also won't see the court for a while: their next match is against Little Wound at 5:00 p.m. on December 30th. Mahpiya Luta knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Little Wound likes a good challenge.
