Baseball Recap: Triad Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Triad duked it out with Emmanuel Christian Academy on Friday. The Cardinals fell just short of the Lions by a score of 2-1. The Cardinals were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Lions earlier this season, when they won 6-5.

JJ Roberts spent all 8.1 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. He has become a key player for Triad: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least eight strikeouts, but 3-15-1 otherwise.

At the plate, Colton Thomas made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Triad's loss dropped their record down to 5-16-1. As for Emmanuel Christian Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-13 record this season.

As of now, neither Triad nor Emmanuel Christian Academy have any future games scheduled.
