Basketball Recap: Hemingway Comes Up Short

Hemingway lost against Carvers Bay back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Hemingway Tigers fell 71-62 to the Carvers Bay Bears.

Despite the loss, Hemingway still got an impressive performance from Xavier Washington, who went 8 for 10 to rack up 18 points. The dominant performance also gave Washington a new career-high in field goal percentage (80%). Jabari Pearson was another key player, putting up 12 points and five rebounds.

Kenard Heyward was his usual excellent self, going 8 of 15 on his way to 23 points for Carvers Bay. Another player making a difference was Jamie Graham, who posted 11 points and three steals.

Hemingway's loss dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Carvers Bay, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season.

Hemingway has already played their next game, a 56-45 win against Latta on the 10th. As for Carvers Bay, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 66-56 victory against Johnsonville on the 10th.
