Baseball Game Preview: Lincoln Prep Lightning vs. San Tan Charter Roadrunners

Lincoln Prep is on a three-game streak of home wins, while San Tan Charter is on an eight-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Lightning will host the Roadrunners at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Lincoln Prep has given up an average of 6.9 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Lincoln Prep is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 14 runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Madison Highland Prep on Wednesday. They lost 11-1 to the Heat.

Lincoln Prep saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Platt, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but San Tan Charter ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Scottsdale Christian Academy 3-1.

Ayden Aronowitz was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one home run. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.

Lincoln Prep has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-9-1 record this season. As for San Tan Charter, their win bumped their record up to 19-1.

Friday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Lincoln Prep has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .432. However, it's not like San Tan Charter struggles in that department as they've averaged .513. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Lincoln Prep couldn't quite finish off San Tan Charter in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 and fell 7-5. Can the Lightning avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
