The Academy of Our Lady of Peace Pilots will head out to face off against the Scripps Ranch Falcons at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Having struggled with seven defeats in a row, Academy of Our Lady of Peace turned things around against Mar Vista on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Mariners with a sharp 11-4 victory. The Pilots' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Grace Paine looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Samantha Gehler was incredible, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-4. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Brooke Lemley also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Academy of Our Lady of Peace always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Scripps Ranch waltzed into their contest two weeks ago with three straight wins... but they left with four. They walked away with a 6-1 win over the Ravens.
The team relied heavily on Eme Ledbetter, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Sienna Cole was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.
Scripps Ranch's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Academy of Our Lady of Peace, the victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 4-9.
Academy of Our Lady of Peace's speedy runners might be the difference in Saturday's game. The Pilots have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Scripps Ranch, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.9 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Academy of Our Lady of Peace continue to outrun the ball?
Everything went Academy of Our Lady of Peace's way against Scripps Ranch in their previous matchup back in May of 2023, as Academy of Our Lady of Peace made off with a 10-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pilots since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
