Baseball Recap: Cedar Bluff Tigers vs. Pleasant Valley Raiders
Cedar Bluff was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 15-13 heartbreaker at the hands of the Pleasant Valley Raiders. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-5 last Tuesday.
Samson Mallett made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Isaac Bishop was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Cedar Bluff's record is now 18-10-1. As for Pleasant Valley, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cedar Bluff will venture away from home to take on Pisgah at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.27 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Pleasant Valley, they will head out on the road to face off against West End at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
