Softball Recap: Freedom Drops Highest Score of Season Against North Gaston

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Freedom). Everything went their way against the North Gaston Wildcats on Wednesday as the Freedom Patriots made off with a 22-6 victory. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

The team relied heavily on Kaylee Skinner, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Cassidy Taylor was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.

Skinner wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Freedom kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Freedom's victory bumped their record up to 5-6. As for North Gaston, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-5.

Looking ahead, Freedom will look to defend their home field on Friday against South Caldwell at 6:00 p.m. As for North Gaston, a feisty cat fight will be fought as North Gaston Wildcats take on Forestview Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
