Baseball Recap: Sullivan East Find Success

Sullivan East won the last time they faced Cherokee and things went their way on Thursday too. Sullivan East came out on top against Cherokee by a score of 7-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Patriots.

Luke Blevins spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Sullivan East let Zach Johnson and Kaden Hicks run wild. Johnson scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Hicks went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three runs gave Johnson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Austin Warren, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Sullivan East picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 5-8. As for Cherokee, their loss dropped their record down to 8-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sullivan East will square off against Lebanon at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Cherokee, they will take on Morristown-Hamblen East at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Cherokee is facing Morristown-Hamblen East at the right time seeing as Morristown-Hamblen East is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
