Basketball Recap: South Summit Victorious

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but South Summit had no problem doing just that on Friday. They escaped with a win against the Carbon Dinos by the margin of a single free throw, 51-50. For the Wildcats, this counts as revenge for the 59-31 victory the Dinos walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2020.

Emma Broadbent continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double with 29 points and 21 boards. She has been hot for a while, having posted 12 or more rebounds the last 48 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Mariah Bowen, who posted 18 points in addition to six assists and four steals.

South Summit smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. They pulled down six more offensive rebounds than Carbon's also-impressive total of 11.

When it comes to explaining why Carbon lost, don't look at Jacie Jensen. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 23 points and ten boards. Elsie Morley was another key player, putting up two points and five rebounds.

South Summit has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. As for Carbon, they dropped their record down to 7-18 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.

We've got a battle between Wildcats coming up. Carbon does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
