Baseball Recap: Richfield Has No Trouble Against Millard

Richfield got themselves on the board against Millard on Wednesday, but Millard never followed suit. Everything went their way against the Millard Eagles as they made off with a 20-0 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Wildcats considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Kelby Rickenbach made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in hits (zero). He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI and two doubles.

In other batting news, Slate Reitz was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Jess Curtis was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Richfield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .641. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Millard only posted an OBP of .000.

The win got Richfield back to even at 1-1.

Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Richfield Wildcats challenge Orem Tigers at 1:30 p.m. on March 14th. As for Millard, they will head out to take on Enterprise at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
