Preview: Jack Britt Buccaneers vs. Pine Forest Trojans
Jack Britt and Pine Forest are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2015, but not for long. The Jack Britt Buccaneers will head out on the road to face off against the Pine Forest Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Jack Britt is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
Last Monday, Jack Britt was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 47-43 to Red Springs.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Michael Tubbs, who scored 8 points along with 8 rebounds and 5 steals. Another player making a difference was Tysean Major, who scored 9 points along with 3 steals.
Even though they lost, Jack Britt were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Red Springs only pulled down seven.
Meanwhile, Pine Forest earned a 64-52 victory over Gray's Creek last Tuesday.
Dwayne Johnson was the offensive standout of the matchup as he scored 18 points along with 5 assists and 4 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Pine Forest's points. Tristan Lyons was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Jack Britt's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Pine Forest, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Jack Britt lost to Pine Forest on the road by a decisive 55-40 margin in their previous matchup back in November of 2022. Can Jack Britt avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
