Preview: Roby Lions vs. Westbrook Wildcats
The Roby Lions will be playing at home against the Westbrook Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Roby has struggled recently with six losses in a row, while Westbrook will arrive with five straight victories.
Last Friday, Roby took a serious blow against Hermleigh, falling 52-6. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Roby in their matchups with Hermleigh: they've now lost six in a row.
Meanwhile, Westbrook got themselves on the board against Highland on Friday, but Highland never followed suit. They breezed by the Hornets at home to the tune of 46-0. Westbrook's offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Westbrook's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Grayson Jeffrey, who rushed for 110 yards and three touchdowns on only six carries. Jeffrey was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 58 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Keegan Gilbreath, who rushed for 61 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries.
Roby's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 0-6. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 4.5 points per game. As for Westbrook, their victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 5-1.
Roby took a serious blow against Westbrook in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, falling 86-36. Will Roby have more luck at home instead of on the road?
