Soccer Game Preview: Dixon vs. Croatan

The Dixon Bulldogs will challenge the Croatan Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Dixon is coming into the game hot, having won their last 13 games.

Dixon is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. They put the hurt on White Oak with a sharp 8-1 victory on Tuesday. Dixon might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by three goals or more this season.

Meanwhile, Croatan kept a clean sheet against East Carteret on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Mariners by a score of 2-0. The final result isn't all the surprising considering Croatan's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 134th, while East Carteret are ranked 401st).

Dixon pushed their record up to 13-2-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 27 goals over those six contests. As for Croatan, their win bumped their record up to 7-5-6.

Dixon took their victory against Croatan when the teams last played back in April by a conclusive 4-0 score. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
