Basketball Recap: Southside Takes a Loss

After flying high against Emerald last Thursday, Southside came back down to earth. The Southside Tigers came up short against the Wren Hurricanes on Tuesday, falling 60-36. The defeat continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Hurricanes: they've now lost four in a row.

Wren's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ava O'Shields, who almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine steals. The dominant performance gave O'Shields a new career-high in steals. Another player making a difference was Emma Kate Garrison, who went 6 of 10 en route to 12 points along with eight boards and six assists.

Southside's loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Wren, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-5.

Southside will square off against Fountain Inn at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Wren, they will challenge Westside at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Westside will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something Wren surely won't give up without a fight.
