Softball Recap: Ursuline Academy Wins Going Away Against Maimonides

After low-scoring totals in their previous three game, Ursuline Academy brought some dynamite into their most recent match. They came out on top against the Maimonides M-Cats on Monday by a score of 15-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The contest marked the Bears' most dominant win of the season.

Emersyn Smart was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Isabella Borgonzi was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Meghan Ganley was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Ursuline Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 5-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Ursuline Academy moved to 6-7 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Maimonides, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Ursuline Academy will host O'Bryant at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bears are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Maimonides, they will head out on the road to face off against Boston Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
