Soccer Recap: Mathews Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Mathews and Northampton squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Mathews had to settle for second. They came up short against the Yellowjackets, falling 8-0. Having soared to a lofty five goals in the game before, Mathews' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

With the defeat, Mathews broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-3-1. As for Northampton, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-2-1.

Mathews does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Northampton, they will face off against West Point on Thursday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Northampton have won seven straight at home, while West Point won four straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
