Softball Game Preview: Landstown Eagles vs. Kellam Knights

Landstown is 0-10 against Kellam since May of 2017 but things could change on Tuesday. The Eagles will look to defend their home field against the Knights at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Landstown is headed into the contest having just posted their closest victory since March 25th on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Princess Anne 3-1. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Cavaliers recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Hailey Akers made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over four innings pitched. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one run and one double.

Landstown kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Meanwhile, Kellam got themselves on the board against Ocean Lakes on Thursday, but Ocean Lakes never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Dolphins with a sharp 6-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.

The win made it two in a row for Kellam and bumps their season record up to 12-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Landstown, their win bumped their record up to 4-9.

Landstown suffered a grim 17-0 defeat to Kellam in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
