Soccer Game Preview: Hayward vs. Piedmont

The Hayward Farmers will head out to challenge the Piedmont Highlanders at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Piedmont took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Hayward, who comes in off a win.

Hayward is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. They were the clear victor by a 5-0 margin over Encinal on Tuesday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Farmers as it put an end to their eight-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Piedmont didn't have quite enough to beat Mt. Eden on Tuesday and fell 3-2. While losing is never fun, the Highlanders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 627th, while the Monarchs are ranked 248th).

This is the second loss in a row for Piedmont and nudges their season record down to 3-7-4. As for Hayward, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-7-1 and their overall record up to 3-8-1.
