Basketball Game Preview: Lake Travis Cavaliers vs. Westlake Chaparrals

Lake Travis hasn't had much luck against Westlake recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Lake Travis Cavaliers will challenge the Westlake Chaparrals at 7:30 p.m.

Last Tuesday, Lake Travis was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 59-54 to Dripping Springs.

Meanwhile, Westlake was able to grind out a solid victory over Bowie on Tuesday, taking the game 58-50. Given the Chaparrals' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 99th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 262nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Westlake is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. As for Lake Travis, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-15.

Lake Travis couldn't quite finish off Westlake when the teams last played back in January of 2024 and fell 48-46. Can Lake Travis avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
