Baseball Recap: Sacramento's Losing Streak Snapped at 14 Games

Sacramento can bid farewell to their 14-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Western Sierra Collegiate Academy Wolves with a sharp 8-2 victory. The Dragons not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 11th (when they won 22-0).

Orlando Eaton and Darius Jenkins made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Eaton pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Jenkins struck out 14 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. He is becoming a predictor of Sacramento's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is 3-1 (and 6-17 when he doesn't). At the plate, Eaton got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Jenkins went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. What's more, Eaton posted two hits, the most he's had since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jose Kepford, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in February.

Sacramento's record now sits at 9-18. As for Western Sierra Collegiate Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-8 record this season.
